In loving honor and memory of TJ Doherty, Stratford Baseball Association has renamed its Major 70’s Field. The field will now be known as the “TJ Doherty Memorial Field at Clover Park”. The dedication led by SBA President TJ Marshall and the Board of Directors celebrates the life of Thomas Joseph "TJ" Doherty who passed away on May 12, 2021.

The dedication pays tribute to TJ’s years of service to the players and community of Stratford Baseball Association. TJ coached at every level and age group within SBA.

As a coach, TJ had a certain style and flair to teach his players to be strong, respectful and play hard. He led with love and was always a true inspiration to all his players and families.

As a league official, TJ served in many volunteer capacities which included the position of league Vice President. As a league official TJ strived to ensure that organization rules, policies, and procedures were administered for the benefit of ALL players, regardless of skill level. Whether as a coach or league official, TJ wanted SBA to have a positive impact on every player and family served by the organization. He was a true advocate and role model for all.

TJ ‘s positive impact was felt by the entire SBA Community. He will be missed by every member of the Stratford Baseball Association Community. He was an inspiration and “positive force” to all. Stratford Baseball Association was blessed to have his loyalty, leadership, and friendship. The 70’s Field at Clover Park will ALWAYS honor his dedication and memory.
