SBA & JML Partnership Announcement

Stratford Baseball Association and Milford Junior Major League are joining forces to give Stratford Residents the best possible opportunity for our youth to play baseball at a high level. The partnership between the two organizations dates back to the late 90’s and has given our players the experience of playing games in Stratford and Milford. This provides enrichment opportunities for both communities.

SBA has carefully evaluated and selected its affiliates. SBA believes that its main affiliations with JML, Cal Ripken, Babe Ruth, and the Stratford Titans offer the most comprehensive and progressive programs available for player well-being and development.

Cal Ripken, a youth baseball organization founded by the baseball Hall of Famer, states that the league gives its players a better opportunity to transition from the tiny dimensions of youth baseball to the expanse of full-size baseball diamonds. SBA has always believed in the progressive player development offered by Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth. SBA provides programs with a unique “baseball” progression not offered by other recreational baseball organizations.

Players in both organizations are guided through the program in four divisions. The Rookie Division utilizes both tee ball and coach pitch to help player progression to seeing a ball in motion as the coach releases a pitch. The Burdick Division utilizes pitching machines and progresses to player pitch to allow for proper advancement to full player pitch in the Minor 60’s Division. The Minor 60 Division features competitive play at an intermediate level, while the Major 70 and Babe Ruth Divisions feature Major League Rules. All players are given the opportunity to play with minimum inning requirements for all players.

Game schedules and team rosters will continue as they were in 2022. There will be Stratford Teams and Milford Teams, with coaches from both towns.

Joining forces with Milford JML will give both towns the opportunity to pool resources and provide the best experience for our players. Beginning 2/16 all registrations will go through the JML organization. The link for registration is available on the SBA website at www.stratfordbaseball.org or Sign Up Here. The Stratford Titans will remain a Stratford based organization. All Titans questions should be directed to John Kelly at [email protected].

John Wezenski is the president of the new organization. John Kelly and TJ Marshall will remain as consultants for the 2023 season.
